The Center for Agriculture Food Environment (C3A) was established in 2015 through a framework agreement between the University of Trento (Italy) and the Fondazione Edmund Mach (Italy). The core research of C3A focuses on agri-food, environment and forestry and is committed to seeking a critical balance between production and conservation of natural resources.

Dr Gianfranco Anfora is Entomologist, Associate Professor at C3A. He has been studying the interactions between insect pests and microorganisms affecting volatile organic compound perception and host recognition. He authored over 150 scientific or technical articles and is the inventor of one patent. He has established strong local and international collaborations working on economically important pests, with the aim to provide environmentally sustainable and minimal impact management strategies.
